National Unity Day Celebrated at Vallabh Government College, Mandi.

Vallabh Government College, Mandi, observed National Unity Day in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The event, presided over by Principal Professor Surina Sharma, included a solemn oath of national unity taken by NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and college staff.
In her address, Principal Sharma emphasized Patel’s unparalleled contributions to nation-building, referring to him as the “Iron Man of India” for his pivotal role in unifying the country.
Flying Officer Dr. Chaman highlighted Patel’s extraordinary vision and determination, which were instrumental in integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union during the nation’s independence. He praised Patel’s strategic diplomacy that facilitated the voluntary merger of states like Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Junagadh, and Kashmir, overcoming complex challenges with resolve and skill.
Dr. Chaman underscored Patel’s commitment to unity and integrity, which laid the groundwork for the reorganization of states, shaping India into its present form. He also recognized the significant roles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Patel in the constitution-making process.
Patel’s establishment of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) was noted as a vital step towards a robust administrative framework, which he believed was essential for empowering the nation. As Home Minister, he prioritized law and order, strengthening police and military systems to ensure social and political stability post-independence.
The celebration was attended by senior faculty members, including Professor Ravinder Kumar and Assistant Professor Surajmani, along with numerous students and staff, reflecting a collective commitment to the ideals of unity and nationhood championed by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
