Cultural Fest “Utsav 2024” Inaugurated at Vallabh Government College, Mandi.

Vallabh Government College, Mandi, witnessed the grand inauguration of its cultural festival “Utsav 2024” organized by the Central Student Organization (CSO). The event was inaugurated by Professor Ramesh Ravi, former Principal of Paonta Sahib College, who emphasized the significance of cultural programs in promoting social unity, preserving heritage, and fostering academic growth.

In his address, Professor Ramesh Ravi stated that cultural events play a crucial role in bringing communities together, respecting diversity, and safeguarding cultural traditions. He highlighted the importance of dance, music, theater, and traditional festivals in preserving ancient customs and connecting the younger generation with cultural values.

Professor Surina Sharma, Principal of Vallabh Government College, praised the efforts of the college in nurturing student talent through such cultural events. She also acknowledged the contributions of former Principals Professor Ramesh Ravi and Professor Kripal Parmar in initiating cultural programs at the college. The cultural fest, held after a gap of almost 12 years, received overwhelming participation.
The event also saw the presence of Professor Punam Sharma, recently retired Principal of Government College Kotli, as the distinguished guest. During the occasion, Professor Surina Sharma honored Professor Ramesh Ravi and Professor Punam Sharma with mementos for their contributions.
The Coordinator of the Cultural Fest, Professor Dr. Hemraj Rana, emphasized that such events provide students with a platform to showcase their artistic and creative abilities, which helps in building confidence and enhancing their personalities.
Dr. Chaman, Media Coordinator, added that cultural programs are vital in promoting moral and educational values. He pointed out how traditional stories, folk songs, and plays serve as powerful tools for teaching discipline, ethics, and idealism to the younger generation.
The President of the CSO, Kiran, expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries and students, stating that the purpose of the cultural fest is to nurture hidden talents among the students. The two-day event features a variety of competitions, including Ghazal, Folk Dance, Classical Dance, Bollywood Solo Dance, Skits, Mime Acts, and Traditional Modeling. Winners will be awarded tomorrow.
On the first day, students delivered remarkable performances in categories like Classical Dance, Folk Solo Dance, Bollywood Dance, Ghazals, Bhajans, and Folk Songs. On the second day, Skits, Mime Acts, and Traditional Modeling will be the highlights.
The event saw participation from hundreds of students, including Tanisha, Kashish, Shweta, Divya, Ishu, Suhani, Kusma, Bipasha, Vanita, Komal, Kanchan, Sonali, Gagandeep, and Sunil Dogra.
The judging panel for the event included senior faculty members like Dr. Deepak Gautam, Professor Lalita Chauhan, Professor Anupma Sharma, Dr. Nirmal Singh, and Dr. Santosh Sawariya.
The event was successfully coordinated by Professor Hemraj Rana, Dr. Archana Sharma, and student Rup Singh. Senior Professor Dr. Ravinder Kumar presented the vote of thanks.
The cultural fest was attended by several dignitaries, including senior professors, administrative staff, faculty members, and thousands of students.
