Shimla:

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the state-of-the-art Mata Baglamukhi Ropeway in Mandi district, marking a significant milestone in the region’s tourism and infrastructure development. The ropeway, which spans a length of 800 meters, connects Pandoh to the Mata Baglamukhi Temple in Bakhli, offering an exciting new way to access one of the state’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.

Constructed at a cost of Rs. 53.89 crore, the ropeway is built to European CEN standards and boasts a line speed of 6 meters per second (21.6 km/h), with a capacity to carry 600 passengers per hour. The service will bypass 14 kilometers of road travel, providing a more efficient and scenic alternative for devotees and tourists alike.

Notably, the Mata Baglamukhi Ropeway is the only one in the state to operate over a water body, the Pandoh Dam reservoir. Passengers will enjoy stunning views of the tranquil waters below and the surrounding hills, adding a unique thrill to the journey. This feature is expected to attract even more visitors to the area, complementing the serene beauty of the landscape.

The ropeway is also set to boost footfall at the Mata Baglamukhi Temple and enhance access to a nearby nature park developed by the Forest Department. With its proximity to popular tourist destinations like Kullu-Manali, Kasol, and Lahaul-Spiti, the project is expected to draw significant numbers of tourists, generating economic opportunities for the local community.

CM Sukhu expressed his optimism, stating that the ropeway project aligns with the state government’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and infrastructure growth while preserving the region’s natural beauty. He also paid obeisance at the Mata Baglamukhi Temple, praying for the peace and prosperity of the state.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, several senior political figures, and dignitaries, including Chairman APMC Mandi Sanjeev Guleria, Chairman APMC Kullu Mian Ram Singh, Former Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, and others.
