In a heartbreaking development, former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Dr. Singh, who had been undergoing treatment at the prestigious medical institution for his deteriorating health, was a towering figure in Indian politics and economics.

Dr. Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and was widely regarded as one of the country’s most respected leaders. An economist by training, he is best known for his critical role in the economic reforms of the 1990s. As Finance Minister under Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, he played a pivotal role in liberalizing India’s economy, introducing measures that transformed the nation into one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

His tenure as Prime Minister was marked by his steady leadership through challenges, both domestic and global. He presided over a period of remarkable economic growth, increased foreign investment, and a significant rise in India’s global stature.
