Abhilashi University Launches Five-Day Faculty Development Program to Foster Teaching Excellence.

Abhilashi University, located at Chail Chowk, Mandi, has launched a comprehensive five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) aimed at enhancing the academic and professional capabilities of its teaching staff. The program, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), commenced on January 6, 2025, and will run until January 10, 2025. This initiative, designed to strengthen teaching excellence, is being conducted in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline sessions at the university’s auditorium.
Faculty members from various departments, including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors, are participating in the FDP, which offers valuable opportunities to develop contemporary teaching methods, integrate technology into pedagogy, and improve overall educational practices.
The program was officially inaugurated by the Chancellor, Dr. R.K. Abhilashi, who emphasized the importance of quality education and innovation in modern teaching. In his inaugural address, Dr. Abhilashi highlighted the significant role technology plays in enhancing teaching and learning experiences. He underscored the need for faculty members to adapt to technological advancements to keep pace with the evolving educational landscape.
The event was further supported by the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor, both of whom expressed their full endorsement for the FDP and its objectives. Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary, in particular, stressed the importance of embracing modern teaching techniques that draw inspiration from both global and regional educators. He urged the participants to focus not only on personal academic growth but also on the collective improvement of the quality of education. According to him, programs like these help educators understand and adopt innovative teaching strategies, which in turn boosts their confidence and strengthens the educational framework.
The FDP is being led by Dr. P.C. Sharma, Director of the FDP and Head of the IQAC, who has been instrumental in organizing the event. Along with him, Dr. Vivek Chauhan, Director of Research and the organizing chairman, and Dr. Reena, the organizing secretary, are overseeing the smooth execution of the program.
On the first day of the FDP, Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, an expert in creative teaching methods, digital tools, and time management, conducted an engaging session. The session was well-received by the participants, who actively engaged in discussions and shared insights on how the program is enhancing their teaching skills and academic knowledge.
A spokesperson for the university shared that the interactive nature of the session has proven to be highly beneficial, with participants expressing their eagerness to implement the new strategies learned during the FDP in their classrooms.
