State Government Pledges Strong Commitment to Forest Conservation and Drug Abuse Prevention, Says CM Sukhu.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to forest conservation and youth welfare as he inaugurated two important projects led by the non-governmental organization Needle Leaf Foundation – The Savior on Tuesday. The initiatives, aimed at controlling forest fires and combating drug abuse among the youth, are set to be implemented on a large scale across the state.
During the event, CM Sukhu commended the efforts of the Needle Leaf Foundation, noting that their work aligns with the state’s multi-faceted approach to environmental protection and public health. “The state government has adopted advanced technological solutions to manage and mitigate forest fires,” said Sukhu, highlighting the importance of modern techniques in safeguarding the state’s rich natural resources. He also emphasized that the government has launched a wide-reaching campaign to curb narcotics and drug abuse, in collaboration with neighboring states to combat the illegal drug trade.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Needle Leaf Foundation’s initiatives would complement and enhance the government’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment and promote a drug-free society. “We are optimistic that these projects will strengthen the collective efforts being made to address these critical issues,” Sukhu added.
Sunil Grover, President of the Needle Leaf Foundation, provided a comprehensive overview of the new schemes, outlining their objectives and the expected impact.
The event was attended by several key officials, including Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pant, Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, OSD to the Chief Minister Gopal Sharma, and members of the Needle Leaf Foundation such as Dr. Anil Chauhan, Pradeep Kumar, S.N. Kapoor, Ajay Kochar, and Treasurer Rajiv Sood.
