In a move to ensure better financial discipline, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a review meeting of the Finance Department at Shimla on Tuesday, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to sound financial management. CM Sukhu stated that over the past two years, the government has implemented effective measures to maintain fiscal responsibility and optimize resource utilization across departments.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed that all government departments adhere strictly to budget allocations for their respective projects and ensure timely completion. He stressed the importance of completing work within the allocated timeframe and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in managing state funds.

“The government is dedicated to the welfare of all sections of society by making the most efficient and balanced use of state resources,” Sukhu said, adding that financial management continues to receive top priority. He further directed the clearing of all pending bills in the Public Works Department and the Jal Shakti Department to ensure smooth functioning of ongoing projects.

CM Sukhu also reviewed crucial areas such as e-delivery systems, budget implementation, expenditure tracking, and treasury management. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary Finance Abhishek Jain, and other top bureaucrats, were present during the review.

In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister also took stock of the financial status and resource management of the Energy Department, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, and Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. He reviewed their financial performance, outstanding loans, and available resources, providing necessary guidelines for improvement.

Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister, Ram Subhag Singh, and other senior officials also attended the second meeting, highlighting the government’s continued focus on strengthening financial governance and ensuring sustainable development through efficient resource management.

These steps reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations, enhance transparency, and foster the economic welfare of the state.
