Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Assures Swift Action on Key Infrastructure Projects in Lahaul-Spiti, says former MLA Ravi Thakur.

Former MLA from Lahaul and Spiti Ravi Thakur stated that in a recent courtesy meeting with Ajay Tamta, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, discussions were held regarding the ongoing infrastructure projects in Lahaul-Spiti. The focus was on accelerating the construction of the SKG Road, which is estimated to cost around Rs. 1400 crore, and the SKTT Road, with an investment of Rs. 1800 crore. The Minister was urged to expedite the land acquisition process and ensure fair compensation for locals to begin widening work at the earliest.
“Additionally, the Shinkula Tunnel project, which is set to cost over Rs. 3200 crore, was highlighted, with the request to initiate its construction soon” he added.
“Minister Tamta emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of border areas, stating that roads in these regions are vital from a strategic standpoint. He assured that, just like the Zoji La Tunnel, the Shinkula Tunnel would soon be dedicated to the nation” said Ravi Thakur.
Ravi Thakur also requested the Minister that local people be given priority for employment opportunities in ongoing developmental activities.
Ravi Thakur said Minister Tamta agreed to visit the district in the upcoming summer to review the progress of the development projects personally.
