Shimla:
Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary and ex-MLA Sohan Lal Thakur today launched the “Swachh Shehar, Samridh Shehar” (Clean City, Prosperous City) initiative under the ambitious program introduced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The event took place at the Sundernagar Municipal Council, where Thakur also participated in a tree plantation drive and a cleanliness drive at Jawahar Park.
Addressing the gathering, Thakur highlighted the launch of the program by Chief Minister Sukhu on February 5, which focuses on cleanliness, environmental protection, and waste management in urban local bodies. He emphasized that the initiative would include various measures to enhance municipal operations, making them more efficient and streamlined for the betterment of the people.
Thakur also announced that grievance redressal camps would be held at the ward level to address public complaints. As part of the awareness campaign, a series of activities would be organized in schools, and a door-to-door awareness drive would be conducted to educate residents about the importance of cleanliness. This two-month-long awareness program aims to engage the public in making Sundernagar a cleaner and more prosperous city.
Thakur urged the people of Sundernagar to actively participate in the initiative and help in transforming the town into a model of cleanliness and prosperity.
