Youth Need Jobs, Not Cannabis Cultivation and Lotteries, Says BJP Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal.

BJP chief spokesperson and MLA Rakesh Jamwal strongly criticised the Congress government in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly over the issue of unemployment, questioning its failure to fulfil the promise of providing five lakh government jobs in five years.
Speaking under Rule 130, Jamwal alleged that Congress had promised one lakh government jobs every year before the Assembly elections, but was now denying having made such a commitment. He said the party’s election manifesto and guarantees were placed before the House, yet the government was unwilling to acknowledge its promise.
Jamwal said educated youth across Himachal were seeking dignified employment, while the government was discussing cannabis cultivation and lotteries as possible economic activities. He termed the promotion of cannabis cultivation particularly unfortunate amid concerns over increasing drug abuse among youngsters.
He also questioned the proposal to recruit teachers for around 150 CBSE-affiliated schools on five-year contracts with fixed salaries of approximately Rs. 30,000, asking what would happen to them after the contract period.
Jamwal stressed that employment opportunities should be expanded through industry, tourism, startups and self-employment. He urged the government to clarify its position on its employment guarantees and apologise if the promised jobs cannot be provided.
