The two-day National Cadet Corps (NCC) ‘C’ Certificate Examination was successfully conducted at Vallabh Government College, Mandi. On the first day, a practical examination was held for cadets of the NCC Army Wing, Air Wing, and Naval Wing, followed by the written examination on the second day.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman of the Himachal Pradesh Air Squadron NCC, Kullu, provided insights into the examination, stating that 59 cadets from the unit participated. A Board of Officers was constituted for the practical and written examinations, comprising:

Significance of the NCC ‘C’ Certificate

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman emphasized that the NCC ‘C’ Certificate is the highest-level certification in NCC, holding significant value across various fields. He stated that this certificate not only aids in building a career in government and defense services but also plays a crucial role in personality development.

Cadets holding the NCC ‘C’ Certificate are given special preference during recruitment into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. In many selection processes, they are directly invited for the SSB (Services Selection Board) interview. Moreover, under the NCC Special Entry Scheme, ‘C’ Certificate holders receive additional advantages in defense services recruitment.

Beyond defense services, the ‘C’ Certificate also offers benefits in other government sectors, including police, paramilitary forces, railways, banking, and other administrative jobs, where holders receive extra marks or priority consideration.

NCC Training: Developing Discipline and Leadership

Through NCC training, cadets develop discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork, and self-reliance. The training also instills social prestige and confidence in cadets. Additionally, they gain hands-on experience through camps, trekking, shooting, adventure training, and other activities, which play a crucial role in their holistic development.

Successful Conduct of the Examination

The NCC ‘C’ Certificate Examination at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, was successfully conducted under the supervision of Presiding Officer Colonel Rawat. The Presiding Officers and the Board of Officers played a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of the examination. The 2nd Himachal Pradesh NCC Battalion (Army Wing) also made significant contributions to the successful organization of the event.

Apart from Vallabh Government College, Mandi, cadets from various institutions participated, including Kullu, Bilaspur, Jogindernagar, Haripur, Maharaja Lakshman Sen College (Sundernagar), Basa College, Polytechnic College (Sundernagar), Government Degree College (Siraj, Banjar, Darang at Narla), Dharampur College, Sarkaghat College, Sujanpur Tihra College, NIT Hamirpur, Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College (Sundernagar), Dharamshala, Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra College (Palampur), and DAV College (Palampur).

The NCC ‘C’ Certificate Examination was conducted on February 15 and 16, 2025, at Vallabh Government College, Mandi. Cadets from the following units participated:

1 Himachal Pradesh Naval Unit (Bilaspur)

1 Himachal Pradesh Girls Battalion NCC (Solan)

2 Himachal Pradesh Battalion (Army Wing)
