The Drang Students Welfare Association Mandi (DSWA) held its second annual celebration on Thursday, February 20, at the Cultural Hall in Kangani Dhar, Mandi, with great enthusiasm and grandeur. During this event, Raja Singh Malhotra, a renowned jeweler and respected social worker from Mandi’s Moti Bazaar, was honored for his remarkable social service.

Although Raja Singh Malhotra had been invited to attend the annual event, he was unable to participate due to personal commitments. However, in a gesture of appreciation, the DSWA members, including students, visited his jewelry showroom in Moti Bazaar to honor him in person.

Raja Singh Malhotra is known for his deep empathy for people from all walks of life, particularly the youth. Over the years, he has been instrumental in helping numerous athletes showcase their talents and achieve success in various sports. He has also played a key role in nurturing hidden artistic talents through cultural programs.

In addition to his work with athletes and artists, Malhotra has been financially supporting the education of children from underprivileged families for many years. Despite his significant contributions, he has never sought recognition or publicity for his philanthropic efforts.

During the ceremony at his showroom, the DSWA team presented Malhotra with a badge, shawl, and a commemorative plaque as a token of their gratitude. Students also sought his blessings and expressed their appreciation for his continuous support of society.

In his address, Raja Singh Malhotra expressed his regret for not being able to attend the annual celebration but conveyed his best wishes to the Drang Students Welfare Association for their future endeavors. He encouraged the students to balance their academic preparations with their involvement in such meaningful events and urged them to work towards raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Malhotra also emphasized that the DSWA is a non-political platform, providing a space for young people to showcase their talents and contribute to preserving the diverse cultures of the region. He commended the association for offering talented students from Drang a valuable opportunity to express their artistic abilities and encouraged continued support for such initiatives.

The DSWA’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting cultural heritage through events like the annual celebration continues to make a significant impact in the community, creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
