CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Visits IGMC to Check on Former Legislator Bamber Thakur’s Health Following Gunshot Injury.
Shimla:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla today to inquire about the health of former legislator Bamber Thakur, who sustained gunshot injuries on Friday in Bilaspur. Expressing his concern, the Chief Minister wished the former legislator a speedy recovery.
In an informal conversation with the media, Chief Minister Sukhu confirmed that doctors at IGMC were providing the best treatment to Bamber Thakur, who is now out of danger. “This is a highly serious matter, and we have directed the police to take swift action against those responsible for this attack,” said Sukhu.
The Chief Minister also provided an update on the investigation, mentioning that the police had conducted overnight raids, leading to the arrest of several suspects involved in the incident. He assured the public that stern action would be taken against the perpetrators.
Responding to questions from the media, Chief Minister Sukhu also addressed the ongoing political situation, particularly regarding the Opposition’s protests. He acknowledged that protests are a democratic right but emphasized the need for cooperation between the Opposition and the government for the betterment of the state.
“The first question that needs to be asked is how the drug mafia was allowed to flourish in the state,” Sukhu said. “Thanks to the earnest efforts of our government, drug-related cases have decreased by 30 percent. I have recently ordered a crackdown on the drug mafia, and we will be introducing Bills in the ongoing budget session of the Vidhan Sabha to impose stringent measures against organized crimes and drug networks.”
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, and MLA Harish Janartha during the visit to IGMC.
