Vedic Week Celebrated with Shloka Recitation and Speech Competitions at DAV BSL Pandoh.

DAV BSL Pandoh organised a series of engaging competitions for students on the fourth day of Vedic Week, being celebrated in connection with the Shravani Parv. The event aimed to familiarise students with the rich heritage of the Vedas, Sanskrit language and Indian cultural traditions. Students participated in the competitions with great enthusiasm, confidence and a keen spirit of learning.
The programme was conducted with the objective of encouraging students to understand the relevance of Vedic knowledge in contemporary life and to develop values such as discipline, morality, truthfulness and respect for Indian traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Vandana Kapoor, Principal of DAV BSL Pandoh, encouraged the students to actively participate in such activities and appreciate the significance of India’s ancient knowledge tradition. She said that knowledge of the Vedas plays an important role in developing good values, discipline and moral values among students. She emphasised that along with modern education, it is equally important for young learners to remain connected with the country’s ancient knowledge, cultural heritage and traditions.
The Principal further motivated the students to follow the path of truth, non-violence and honesty in their daily lives. She highlighted the importance of incorporating these values into one’s character to become responsible and ethical members of society.
Shloka Recitation Competition
The Shloka Recitation Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who recited Sanskrit shlokas with impressive pronunciation, clarity and confidence. Their melodious and meaningful recitations reflected their interest in Sanskrit and the Vedic tradition.
The students demonstrated remarkable command over pronunciation and presentation. Aastha secured the first position, while Arnish stood second in the competition.
Speech Competition on “Return to the Vedas”
A speech competition was also organised on the theme “Return to the Vedas”. Through their speeches, students highlighted the importance of Vedic knowledge, the significance of the Sanskrit language and the vital role of the Vedas in shaping Indian civilisation and culture.
The participants spoke about the need to preserve and promote Sanskrit as an important link to India’s ancient knowledge tradition. They also discussed the relevance of Vedic teachings in modern life and emphasised the importance of protecting the country’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage.
The students further highlighted the ideals and teachings of Maharshi Swami Dayanand Saraswati, encouraging everyone to follow his path of truth, knowledge and social reform.
In the speech competition, Harvey won the first position, Saina secured the second position, while Ambika and Armaan jointly secured the third position.
The enthusiastic participation of the students and their confident performances made the event a meaningful and successful part of the Vedic Week celebrations. The programme provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents while deepening their understanding of Sanskrit, Vedic knowledge and Indian cultural values.
