Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed the ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’ brainstorming session via video conference, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a green energy hub, self-reliant, and prosperous. The three-day event, being organized at the Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) in Shimla, aims to draft a 20-year roadmap for the sustainable economic development of the state.

During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that the government’s vision is focused on ensuring that Himachal Pradesh thrives as a leading state in renewable energy and economic growth while maintaining a balanced approach to sustainable development. He explained that this exercise would assist in formulating innovative strategies to shape the state’s future and meet long-term goals.

“The government is working with a clear vision to make Himachal a green energy powerhouse, self-reliant, and economically prosperous,” said CM Sukhu. He emphasized that such goals are achievable through a blend of sustainable practices and focused economic development, which will help transform Himachal into a leading state in terms of self-sufficiency and growth.

He further elaborated on the government’s commitments, including the preparation of the 2025-26 state budget with a focus on rural economic development, energy sector enhancement, tourism promotion, and improvements in the education and healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, CM Sukhu mentioned the state’s plans to tap into its vast hydroelectric potential and negotiate for higher royalties from power projects.

Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s role as a pioneer in natural farming, the Chief Minister noted that the state is continuing to promote dairy development and sustainable agricultural practices. “Vyavastha Parivartan (systematic change) means heading towards a self-sustained, self-reliant Himachal,” he stated, underlining the importance of transformative steps in all sectors to achieve holistic development.

The virtual session also saw the participation of Sam Pitroda, an internationally recognized development thinker and entrepreneur, who joined from the USA. Pitroda shared his valuable insights on achieving holistic development for the state and commended the Himachal government for its proactive approach. He expressed interest in further collaborating with the state to share his expertise for the betterment of Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena provided a detailed overview of the state government’s initiatives over the past two years, shedding light on the progress made in various sectors. Several subject experts, secretaries from different government departments, and officers attended the event to engage in discussions and provide their perspectives on Himachal’s future growth.

The ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’ brainstorming exercise represents a crucial step toward setting a long-term vision for the state, ensuring that Himachal Pradesh progresses as a green, self-reliant, and prosperous state while addressing the challenges posed by rapid development. The deliberations and outcomes from this event are expected to shape the policies and strategies for the coming decades.
