India Delivers Proportionate Response to Pakistan’s Provocation, Reaffirms Commitment to Non-Escalation.
New Delhi:
In a firm and proportionate military response to Pakistan’s failed attempt to escalate tensions, the Indian Armed Forces successfully neutralised multiple Pakistani air defence assets after a night of drone and missile attacks targeting Indian military sites.
Following the earlier Operation Sindoor, which India had described as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” Pakistan attempted retaliation late on the night of May 7-8 by targeting several Indian military installations across Northern and Western regions. The targeted areas included critical bases such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and others.
India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems swiftly responded, intercepting and neutralising the threats. Debris recovered from various locations now provides clear evidence of Pakistan’s attempted attacks.
In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched a precision strike operation in the early hours of May 8, targeting Pakistani air defence infrastructure. According to reliable sources, an air defence system in Lahore has been confirmed neutralised. India’s response was deliberately calibrated to mirror the domain and intensity of the Pakistani provocation, sending a strong but restrained message.
Escalation Across LoC
Separately, Pakistan has significantly escalated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), deploying mortars and heavy artillery in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu & Kashmir. This unprovoked aggression has resulted in the tragic loss of 16 civilian lives, including women and children.
The Indian Army was compelled to respond to this unprovoked aggression with calibrated artillery fire aimed at silencing Pakistani positions and protecting Indian civilians.
India Stands Firm, But Not Provocative
Despite provocations, India reiterated its commitment to non-escalation. The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed that India will not initiate escalation but reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and citizens. “Any attack on Indian military targets will invite a suitable response,” the official statement noted.
India’s proportionate and domain-specific military actions reinforce its stance as a responsible power, capable of precision operations and committed to peace — but unwilling to tolerate aggression.
As regional tensions remain high, the Indian Armed Forces are on alert and prepared for further contingencies, while diplomatic and strategic channels continue monitoring developments.
