CM Sukhu Meets Union Health Minister Nadda, Seeks Central Support to Upgrade Himachal’s Health Infrastructure.

New Delhi:

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today called on Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda in the national capital, urging the Centre’s assistance in bolstering the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

During the meeting, CM Sukhu highlighted the pressing need to enhance health facilities across Himachal Pradesh and sought increased central support for the effective implementation of key health schemes, including Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission (NHM).

A major point of discussion was the proposal to set up a dedicated cancer care centre in the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that such a facility would significantly improve cancer diagnosis and treatment for residents in the region, who currently face challenges accessing specialized care.

He also underlined the importance of modernizing government hospitals by introducing advanced medical technologies and state-of-the-art equipment. This, he noted, would ensure better healthcare delivery and patient outcomes, especially in remote and rural areas.

CM Sukhu further requested a relaxation in eligibility criteria for several centrally-sponsored health schemes to ensure greater coverage and benefit to the people of Himachal Pradesh. He also sought the expedited release of pending central funds allocated for health projects in the state.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda assured the Chief Minister that the Centre remains committed to supporting the healthcare needs of Himachal Pradesh. “The interests of the state will be fully safeguarded, and all necessary cooperation will be extended,” he said.

Accompanying the Chief Minister at the meeting were Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Advisor to the CM Ram Subhag Singh, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar.

The meeting reflects the state government’s continued efforts to strengthen its healthcare system and improve access to quality medical services for its citizens.
