Young Journalist Viplove Saklani Rescues Lost Baby Rabbit, Hands It Over to Forest Department.
Shimla:
In a heartwarming display of compassion and responsibility towards wildlife, Viplove, a young journalist from the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, rescued a stray baby rabbit found near his residence late at night.
According to Viplove, the tiny creature appeared to have lost its way and was wandering alone, vulnerable to nocturnal predators. “It was very late at night when I saw the baby rabbit near my house. I was worried that some wild animal might harm it, so I brought it home for the night to keep it safe,” Viplove shared.
Displaying commendable civic sense and empathy, he contacted Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vasu Doegar the following morning and ensured that the rabbit was safely handed over to the Forest Department for proper care and rehabilitation.
“This is not just about rescuing one animal. It’s about choosing to protect life whenever possible,” said Viplove. “We must strive to give life, not take it.”
The Forest Department appreciated the gesture and confirmed that the rabbit was in good health and would be looked after at the nearest wildlife care center.
The act has drawn praise from local residents and wildlife enthusiasts, highlighting the importance of public awareness and participation in wildlife protection.
Such examples remind us that even small actions by individuals can make a significant difference in preserving nature and its innocent lives.
