Austria Mourns After Deadly School Shooting.

Austria:

Thousands of people gathered for a candlelight vigil in Graz, Austria, to mourn the deaths of 10 people killed in a school shooting at Dreierschützengasse secondary school. The community came together to pay their respects to the victims, with many lighting candles and sharing their grief.

The 21-year-old suspect, a former student, took his own life in a school bathroom after the attack. Police found a farewell letter and a non-functional pipe bomb at his home, but the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The incident left 12 others injured, and seven of the victims were pupils.

A nationwide minute of silence was held, and the Austrian flag was lowered to half-mast on public buildings. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker described the shooting as a “national tragedy” and a “dark day in our country’s history”. Local mayor Elke Kahr called it a “terrible tragedy”.
