Awareness Rally, Street Play, and Seminar Inspire Youth to Embrace Voluntary Blood Donation.
Shimla:
World Blood Donors Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, under the aegis of the NCC Units. The event featured a series of awareness programs, presided over by the Principal of the college, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.
On this occasion, NCC cadets from both the Air Wing and Army Wing organized a Blood Donation Awareness Rally, a Street Play (Nukkad Natak), and an Awareness Seminar, all aimed at promoting the importance of voluntary blood donation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of the college, said:
“World Blood Donors Day is observed every year on 14th June to express gratitude and honor all voluntary blood donors who selflessly donate blood to save lives. This day marks the birth anniversary of the renowned scientist Dr. Karl Landsteiner, who discovered the blood group system.”
He further stated that the primary objective of this day is to raise public awareness about the significance of blood donation and to encourage the youth to become regular and voluntary blood donors. In today’s world, with rising incidents of road accidents, cases of thalassemia, cancer, and maternal emergencies, the demand for safe and adequate blood is crucial. Blood donation is not just a medical necessity but a noble social responsibility that strengthens the spirit of humanity and compassion.
As part of the event, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar flagged off the Blood Donation Awareness Rally, which proceeded through various parts of the town. The rally was led by Army Wing CTO Dr. Kavita, and witnessed the active participation of hundreds of cadets from both the Air and Army Wings.
