“Their World Changed in a Blink, But Hope Remains”: CM Sukhu Shares Meal with Disaster-Hit Children in Mandi.
Chief Minister Assures Full Support for Rebuilding Children’s Lives After Devastation in Anah Village.
Shimla:
In a deeply emotional gesture, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday visited the disaster-affected Anah village near Kailodhar Inspection Hut in Mandi district, where he met with families and children impacted by recent natural calamities—and shared a meal with them to express solidarity and support.
During his interaction, the Chief Minister was visibly moved as he listened to the stories of loss and displacement. Speaking to the children and their families, he acknowledged the life-altering impact of the disaster, particularly on the young.
“In a single moment, their entire world changed,” CM Sukhu said. “They lost the roof over their heads, their school books were washed away, and their playgrounds now lie buried under debris. But even amid this devastation, I still see hope in their innocent eyes. And nurturing that hope is now my top priority.”
A Promise to Rebuild Futures
The Chief Minister made an impassioned commitment to restoring normalcy for the children of the region. He assured that the government would replace lost school books, rebuild schools, and work tirelessly to bring smiles back to the faces of the affected children.
“We will return their books, reopen their schools, and bring joy back into their lives,” he said. “I will not rest until every child’s future is once again secure.”
CM Sukhu’s visit comes amid ongoing state-wide relief and rehabilitation operations following torrential rains, landslides, and flash floods that have left many families homeless and entire communities in distress.
Symbolic Meal, Strong Message
By sitting down and eating with the children, the Chief Minister sent a powerful message of unity and reassurance, underscoring that the government stands with the people, not above them.
Wider Relief Measures Underway
The Himachal Pradesh government has launched multi-departmental efforts to restore housing, education, and healthcare services in affected regions. Special focus is being placed on children’s welfare, mental health support, and access to schooling.
