Central Multi-Sectoral Team Visits Disaster-Hit Karsog to Investigate Root Causes of Increasing Natural Calamities in Himachal Pradesh.

A high-level multi-sectoral central team visited the disaster-affected areas of Sarkol and Shankar Dehra in Karsog subdivision, Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh today, as part of a crucial field study to investigate the root causes behind the rising frequency of natural disasters such as cloudbursts, heavy rainfall, and landslides in the state.

The visit was carried out under the direction of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, with the team tasked to scientifically assess recent extreme weather events, their geological impact, and the long-term implications for the region’s environmental stability and infrastructure.
Focus on Root Cause Analysis of Recurrent Disasters
The team’s primary goal was to examine the environmental and anthropogenic triggers contributing to the increased vulnerability of the hill state to natural calamities. By visiting the ground zero of recent events, particularly Sarkol and Shankar Dehra, the team aims to understand the underlying reasons for these incidents and their socio-economic and ecological repercussions.
