Shimla:
In the aftermath of the devastating flash floods that struck Mandi last night, the Citizen Council Mandi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of three members of a single family. In a heartfelt statement, the Council conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the recovery of all affected families.
The heavy rains caused massive destruction, with many homes inundated by water and debris, resulting in significant damage to property and vehicles. Expressing solidarity with the victims, the Council acknowledged the grief and hardships faced by the local residents.
Neeraj Handa, an office bearer of Citizens Council stated that as an immediate measure of relief, the Citizen Council Mandi provided a sum of Rs. 30,000 to Krishna, who lost three members of her family in the disaster. “We understand that no amount can truly compensate for such a loss but this gesture is made with sincere empathy and support” said Handa.
According to Handa, in a heartening show of unity, news of the Council’s efforts shared on the Mandi Help Post led to a swift response from well-wishers across India. Atul from Delhi and Sanjeev from Chandigarh sent contributions of Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively. Another person from Mumbai has also pledged assistance, to be delivered shortly.
The Citizen Council Mandi has assured that all contributions will be transparently handed over via cheque to the grieving family. The collective effort highlights the spirit of compassion and community, with citizens from across the nation standing together during this time of crisis.
