A detailed review meeting for the upcoming State-Level Tribal Festival 2025 was held today in Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhardana. The meeting saw active participation from all organizing committees, who presented progress reports and received crucial directions to ensure the festival’s grand success.

Theme: “Eco-Friendly and Zero Waste Festival”

This year’s tribal festival will revolve around the theme of environmental sustainability, with a strong commitment to making the entire event plastic-free and nature-friendly. Efforts will be made to minimize waste generation and highlight traditional ecological wisdom through every activity.

‘Vocal for Local’ at the Heart of the Festival

The festival aims to promote local handicrafts, tribal cuisine, and cultural heritage of Lahaul-Spiti. Local artisans, self-help groups, women’s collectives, and youth organizations will be given platforms to sell their products, serve traditional food, and showcase cultural performances.

 Celebration of Tribal Culture

A vibrant display of tribal attire, folk dances and music, local beauty contests, and cultural band performances will highlight the region’s rich and diverse traditions. Food stalls will serve authentic local dishes, made entirely from indigenous ingredients, adding a culinary charm to the event.

Key Events and Arrangements

  • A grand inaugural procession featuring local artists, traditional instruments, and folk dance groups will mark the opening day.
  • Tribal and local sports competitions will be organized to revive and promote traditional games.
  • Emphasis will be placed on ensuring arrangements for sanitation, law and order, electricity, water supply, fire safety, and transport for smooth functioning of the event.

 Officers Present at the Meeting wereSDM Keylong – Akanksha Sharma, Assistant Commissioner – Kalyani Tiwana, DFO – Aniket Vanve, BDO – Vivek Guleria and Heads of all departments based in Keylong. 

Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhardana emphasized that the festival will strengthen the cultural identity of Lahaul-Spiti and provide a state- and national-level platform for local talent and products. She urged all committees to ensure timely and quality preparations and to work in close coordination to meet the festival’s goals.

This tribal festival is expected to be not only a celebration of heritage but also a meaningful step towards empowering local communities and fostering sustainable tourism in the region.
