CM Sukhu Launches Rs. 36 Crore Development Projects in Lahaul Valley; Focus on Sustainable Growth and Connectivity.

In a major boost to the development of the tribal region of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today virtually laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs. 36 crore in the Lahaul Valley. These projects aim to enhance agriculture, tourism, horticulture, and connectivity in the remote region, marking a significant step towards sustainable and inclusive growth.

The virtual foundation-laying ceremony was held in Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti, where Minister for Urban and Rural Planning, Rajesh Dharmani, attended as the chief guest. He formally inaugurated the program by unveiling the project plaques on-site.

CM Commends Zero-Waste Tribal Fair

During the ceremony, CM Sukhu also extended hearty congratulations to the district administration for successfully organizing Himachal Pradesh’s first zero-waste and eco-friendly fair, which began today in Keylong. He highlighted the importance of aligning development with environmental responsibility, calling the fair a model for future initiatives.

Multi-Sectoral Boost for the Region

The Rs. 36 crore investment covers projects across multiple sectors including:

  • Agriculture and Horticulture Infrastructure
  • Eco-tourism and Rural Tourism Development
  • Road and Connectivity Enhancements
  • Public Utilities and Basic Services

“These projects will infuse new energy into the region’s economy, particularly in agriculture and tourism,” said the Chief Minister. “Lahaul has immense potential, and our goal is to transform it into a model of sustainable development.”

Assurance on Disaster Relief

During the event, local MLA Anuradha Rana briefed the Chief Minister about recent cloudburst incidents in the region and appealed for aid and support for rehabilitation and relief. CM Sukhu assured her of all possible assistance, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its people in times of crisis.

Community and Leadership Participation

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rajesh Dharmani said that the newly launched projects would strengthen the economic and social fabric of Lahaul and create new livelihood opportunities for the local population.

The event witnessed the presence of several key officials and public representatives including:

  • Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana
  • Zila Parishad Chairperson Veena Devi
  • SDM Akanksha Sharma
  • Assistant Commissioner Kalyani Tiwana
  • Former District Congress President  Gyalson Thakur
  • APMC Member Anil Sehgal, along with Panchayati Raj representatives and department heads.

A Vision for Sustainable Development

CM Sukhu concluded by reiterating the government’s vision to promote balanced and sustainable development in every district of Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized that Lahaul Valley is being developed as a key hub for eco-tourism and high-altitude agriculture, in line with the broader developmental roadmap of the state.

The event not only marked the start of critical infrastructure initiatives but also highlighted a governance model that is responsive, environmentally conscious, and people-centric.
