Gaya, Bihar:
In a massive push towards infrastructure and development in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple projects worth over Rs. 12,000 crore in the sacred city of Gaya. The event, marked by grand public participation and the presence of key political figures, was described by the Prime Minister as a pivotal step in transforming Bihar’s developmental trajectory and bolstering national security.
Strengthening Bihar’s Growth Engine
The Prime Minister launched and dedicated several key infrastructure projects across sectors like energy, health, connectivity, and urban development. Among the key highlights were:
- Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660 MW) – A Rs. 6,880 crore project to boost Bihar’s electricity supply and industrial capacity.
- Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Muzaffarpur – Providing advanced cancer care and reducing dependency on metropolitan cities.
- Inauguration of the 8.15 km Aunta–Simaria Bridge on NH-31 – A Rs. 1,870 crore project to connect North and South Bihar directly and reduce detour travel by over 100 km for heavy vehicles.
- Four-lane Bakhtiyarpur to Mokama section of NH-31 – Easing congestion and promoting economic activity.
- Sewerage treatment and urban development projects under Namami Gange and AMRUT 2.0 worth over Rs. 1,260 crore.
- Grih Pravesh for over 16,000 beneficiaries under PMAY – Symbolizing dignity and safety for rural and urban poor.
“Gaya Ji’s Spiritual Legacy Is India’s Pride”
Greeting the crowd from the land of the Vishnupad Temple, PM Modi honored Gaya’s rich spiritual heritage, describing it as a land of peace and enlightenment. He congratulated the Bihar government for officially embracing the respectful name “Gaya ji,” reflecting the emotional and cultural sentiments of the people.
“Rapid Development of Bihar is NDA’s Commitment”
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to Bihar’s transformation, the Prime Minister emphasized that the state’s progress was a top priority for the Centre. Comparing current progress with past neglect, he took a swipe at opposition parties for “pushing Bihar into darkness during the lantern regime.”
“Thousands of villages lacked even electricity poles. That was not just underdevelopment—it was deliberate disregard,” he said.
PM Modi credited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for leading a transparent and large-scale campaign to offer government jobs to youth and stressed that with projects like industrial hubs in Dobhi and new technology centres, Bihar’s youth will find more opportunities at home.
Operation Sindoor: India’s New Defence Doctrine
In a significant statement on national security, the Prime Minister declared that “Operation Sindoor has drawn a new line in India’s defence strategy.” Referencing recent attacks from across the border, he highlighted how India’s upgraded missile defence systems have neutralized threats before they could reach Indian soil.
“Even if terrorists hide deep underground, India’s missiles will find and destroy them,” he asserted.
Crackdown on Corruption: New Law to Cover PMs and CMs
Calling corruption the biggest enemy of development, PM Modi announced that the Central Government will soon introduce a stringent anti-corruption law that will cover the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and Ministers.
“If arrested, and if bail is not secured within 30 days, they must resign from office on the 31st day,” he explained.
He strongly criticized opposition leaders for clinging to power even while facing jail time, hinting at recent high-profile corruption cases and alleged misuse of public funds.
Firm Stance on Infiltration: Demography Mission Announced
In one of the most politically charged moments of the speech, PM Modi raised concerns about illegal infiltration in Bihar’s border districts. He announced a “Demography Mission” to address changing population profiles and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy:
“Every infiltrator will be expelled—without exception,” he declared, warning that infiltrators are stealing employment and welfare benefits meant for Indian citizens.
He accused opposition parties of appeasement politics and compromising national interests for votes.
Strengthening Rail and Road Connectivity
The Prime Minister flagged off two important trains:
- Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) – Offering modern amenities and fast travel.
- Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma) – Promoting religious tourism across Buddhist sites.
He also highlighted the modernization of Gaya Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which will offer airport-like facilities.
No Stain of Corruption in 11 Years, Says PM
Reflecting on his decade-long tenure, PM Modi said:
“Not a single stain of corruption has tainted our government in all these years. This is the trust of the people. In contrast, the opposition’s record is full of scams—something even children in Bihar are aware of.”
Political Unity in Presence
The grand event in Gaya saw the presence of key leaders from both Central and State governments, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, CM Nitish Kumar, Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Giriraj Singh, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Nityanand Rai, and others.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister assured the people of Bihar that their dreams and aspirations are at the heart of the NDA’s vision.
“We are building roads, industries, homes, and hope. This is not just development—it’s a revolution. Together with the people of Bihar, we will build a future free from corruption, terrorism, and fear,” he said.
With Rs. 12,000 crore worth of development projects launched in a single day, this event is being seen as a transformative milestone for Bihar’s future, and a defining moment in the run-up to the 2025 state elections.
