Pramod Jaswal, Finance Officer of Sardar Patel University Mandi retires on April 30 after serving almost 37 years of government service.
Jaswal’s image remained as a hardworking and honest but strict officer of rules and law, who had implemented the HP High Court orders regarding biometric attendance in SPU Mandi strictly despite stiff opposition from the teaching staff of SPU.

Pramod Jaswal, Finance Officer of Sardar Patel University Mandi retired today after serving almost 37 years of government service. His image remained as a hardworking and honest but strict officer of rules and law, who had implemented the HP High Court orders regarding biometric attendance in SPU Mandi strictly despite the stiff opposition from the teaching staff of SPU, who were unwilling to follow the order.
The non teaching staff of SPU were following the order of High Court regarding biometric attendance, but the teaching staff of university were not following the order. The finance officer Jaswal took tough stance against the teaching staff of university. Finally the university administration and its teaching staff bent down to follow the order HP High Court, when their one month salary was delayed by the state finance department after tough action taken by the finance officer.
For his hard work, honesty and strictness, Jaiswal got huge appreciation with in university from the employees and outside from the general public.
Today, on the occasion of his retirement, members of the SPU family bid him farewell with respect in the farewell ceremony organised in the conference hall of Rani Lakshmibai Bhawan.
Professor Anupama Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor of SPU Mandi, welcomed him by presenting a flower bunch and honoured him by offering a cap, shawl and memento. Er. Sunil Verma, Controller of Examinations and all the members of the SPU family welcomed him by garlanding and offering him flower buds.
Prof. Anupama Singh said that during his tenure, Pramod Jaswal’s image remained as a hardworking and honest but strict officer of rules and law. She extended him her best wishes for the happy life and good health.
Pramod Jaswal was born in the year 1966 in a farmer family of Kyori village of district Una. His early education was in Kyori village. After completing his higher education from Government College, Una, he joined the government service as a clerk in the Health Department, IGMC, Shimla in January 1987.
In the year 1998, he passed Himachal Pradesh Financial Administrative Services with his hard work and served in the Education Department in District Chamba as a Section Officer. He also worked as Exam Secretary in HIPAA where he had given financial services training to IAS and HAS officers. He took charge as Finance Officer of SPU Mandi in July 2023 and served here for about 10 months.
Before this, Jaswal also served as DCFA in Municipal Corporation Shimla and in Regulatory Commission, Pollution Control Board and Urban Development Department. He completed his service period by serving as the highest post (Finance Officer) of his department.
