Congress Government Has Betrayed Every Section of Society, OPS Was Just a Vote-Gaining Gimmick: BJP Leader Rakesh Jamwal.

Shimla:

BJP MLA and Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal has launched a scathing attack on the Himachal Pradesh Congress government, accusing it of betraying state employees and deceiving the public with false promises. He said the Congress came to power by showing the “lollipop” of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), but now the very employees who trusted them are facing the brunt of their policies.

Jamwal strongly criticized the government’s recent decision to withdraw the Higher Grade Pay notification, calling it an “unjust move” that has resulted in a direct salary cut of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000 for nearly 20,000 to 25,000 employees. “This move clearly shows that the Congress government is only interested in making promises and then going back on them. There is no intent to deliver,” he said.

He accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government of being “anti-everyone,” stating that the administration has failed to address the needs of farmers, horticulturists, women, traders, youth, and senior citizens. “The so-called ‘guarantees’ have turned out to be nothing but tools of deceit. The public has been misled, and now one by one, each guarantee is being strangled,” Jamwal remarked.

The BJP leader said the rollback of Higher Grade Pay has created confusion and frustration among employees. “These employees are the backbone of the state administration. Demoralizing them with such decisions is dangerous and shows the government’s insensitivity,” he said.

Taking a direct jibe at Chief Minister Sukhu, Jamwal claimed that “every decision taken by the CM has been mired in controversy.” He questioned the CM’s administrative capabilities and alleged that he lacks the experience required to lead a state. “Sukhu has never held a significant administrative or constitutional position before becoming CM. This inexperience is now costing the state dearly,” he said.

Jamwal added that the government has failed on all fronts — be it providing jobs, delivering on guarantees, or offering relief to struggling sections of society. “Instead of easing the burden, the Congress government has increased it. From farmers to youth, from traders to employees — no one has been spared,” he said.

He concluded by stating that the BJP will continue to oppose the Congress government on all platforms and fight for the rights of employees and the public. “The people now know that Congress’s so-called guarantees are nothing but hollow slogans and false promises,” Jamwal asserted.
