PM Modi to Lead RSS Centenary Celebrations on October 1.
New Delhi:
In a historic moment marking 100 years of one of India’s most influential socio-cultural organizations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate as the Chief Guest in the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on October 1, 2025. The event will be held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, at 10:30 AM.
As part of the commemorative ceremony, the Prime Minister will unveil a specially designed postage stamp and a commemorative coin, both paying tribute to the century-long journey and national contributions of the RSS. He will also address the gathering, expected to include senior RSS functionaries, government officials, cultural leaders, and volunteers from across the country.
Celebrating a Century of Cultural and National Service
Founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was born with a vision to rekindle cultural consciousness and national pride in a country then under colonial rule. Since then, the RSS has grown into a vast volunteer-based movement known for its discipline, grassroots outreach, and socio-cultural initiatives.
The centenary celebrations aim to honour the RSS’ legacy, including its role in nation-building, disaster relief, education, healthcare, and its contributions to fostering social unity and patriotic values across generations.
Describing the organization as a “people-nurtured movement for national reconstruction,” official sources underline that the RSS’ rise is deeply tied to its vision of India’s “Sarvangeena Unnati” — or holistic development — through selfless service and cultural rootedness.
Emphasis on Unity, Dharma, and Duty
Over the last hundred years, the RSS has prioritized shaping national character through its core values of discipline, devotion to the motherland, self-restraint, and courage. It has also empowered communities through its network of affiliated organizations working in areas such as women’s empowerment, youth development, agriculture, and rural upliftment.
The organization’s cadre of volunteers — or Swayamsevaks — have consistently participated in relief operations during floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and other natural disasters, earning praise for their swift and organized response.
A Landmark in India’s Cultural Journey
The centenary event not only looks back on the RSS’ foundational history and growth but also reflects on its vision for India’s future — a vision rooted in Dharma (righteousness), Seva (service), and Rashtra Bhakti (national devotion).
The Prime Minister’s participation in the centenary is viewed as a strong endorsement of the RSS’ cultural and societal role, and is likely to be seen as a significant moment in contemporary Indian socio-political discourse.
The occasion serves as a reminder of the enduring relevance of grassroots movements in shaping India’s national character and as a tribute to a century of selfless service, unity, and cultural preservation.
