Washington, D.C.:

In a sweeping statement released on Child Health Day, President Donald J. Trump reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to protecting the health and well-being of American children, unveiling key initiatives aimed at reversing what he called an “alarming rise” in chronic illnesses and developmental disorders affecting younger generations.

Citing increases in conditions such as autism, autoimmune disorders, obesity, diabetes, mental health challenges, and serious allergies, the President warned that the status quo in American child health is failing the nation’s youth. “Before our very eyes, we have seen massive rises… in younger generations,” Trump stated. “My Administration’s Make America Healthy Again Commission is leading the effort to find out what is going on and provide solutions.”

The commission, launched earlier this year, is tasked with identifying environmental, nutritional, and pharmaceutical contributors to the health crisis. As part of the initiative, the President has called for a national push to reduce children’s exposure to chemicals and ultra-processed foods, urging a return to “real, whole foods that nourish instead of weaken.”

Reviving a symbol of past administrations, the Presidential Fitness Test has been reestablished, and schools are being encouraged to make daily physical activity a priority once again.

A notable element of the administration’s approach is a reassessment of the widespread prescription of drugs such as SSRIs, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and weight-loss medications for minors. “For too long, the status quo has promoted medication as the first answer to every challenge,” Trump said. “My Administration is committed to finding a better way—encouraging lasting solutions like exercise, nutrition, and community.”

Also highlighted was the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a landmark child protection law signed earlier this year and championed by First Lady Melania Trump. The law strengthens online privacy safeguards and combats digital exploitation, including deepfake abuse. “Melania’s commitment to this cause underscores the fact that protecting our children in the digital age is as vital as looking after their physical well-being,” the President stated.

Concluding his message, President Trump emphasized that the strength of the nation depends on its youth. “American children will once again grow, thrive, and lead us into a bigger, brighter, and healthier future.”
