“Terrorists Killed Innocents After Asking Religion, India Responded to Pakistan Based on Their Actions”: Former CM Jai Ram Thakur on Operation Sindoor.

Shimla:

In a fiery address at the Seri stage in Mandi district today during a “Tiranga Yatra” organized to honor the Indian Armed Forces, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, lauded the Indian military’s bold response to the recent terror attacks in Kashmir through Operation Sindoor. He declared that while terrorists targeted innocent civilians in Pahalgam based on their religion, India retaliated against Pakistan strictly based on their actions.

Thakur, while addressing a massive gathering in Mandi, emphasized that the war against terrorism is far from over and that Operation Sindoor marked only the beginning of India’s decisive campaign against cross-border terrorism. “Any future act of terrorism will be met with a war-like response,” he asserted, stating clearly that India is no longer willing to tolerate proxy warfare on its soil.

Operation Sindoor, as described by Thakur, was a swift and precise counter-offensive carried out by the Indian Armed Forces targeting nine terror launchpads inside Pakistan-occupied territory—locations from where militants frequently infiltrate into India. He emphasized that the operation was not aimed at civilians but at eliminating terror infrastructure. Over 100 terrorists were reportedly neutralized in the operation that lasted just 25 minutes, according to Thakur.

In retaliation to this operation, Pakistan allegedly launched drone and missile attacks across the border. However, Thakur praised the Indian Air Force for intercepting and neutralizing these threats mid-air and also striking back by destroying several Pakistani military installations and airbases. “This was a decisive victory that shook Pakistan,” he claimed, further noting that Islamabad was compelled to seek international mediation and eventually proposed a ceasefire.

Thakur made it clear that India agreed to the ceasefire on its own terms and reiterated that any future provocations would trigger a strong and swift military response. “This is not the end of the war, it is just the beginning,” he declared.

He also called for a complete diplomatic and economic boycott of Turkey, accusing it of supporting Pakistan during the operation. “The sentiment of every Indian today is clear—any country that stands with Pakistan in such times is not a friend of India,” he said.

The “Tiranga Yatra” witnessed the presence of several prominent leaders and military veterans, including retired Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, Kargil War Hero Brigadier Khushal Thakur (Retd.), and several local MLAs and BJP leaders. Thakur described the yatra not just as a tribute to the valor of Indian soldiers, but as a demonstration of national unity, pride, and an unwavering stand against terrorism.

He concluded by stating that the yatra was devoid of political slogans and served solely to boost the morale of Indian armed forces and honor their supreme sacrifices.
