Indian Air Force Day Celebrated at Vallabh Government College, Mandi.

The NCC Air Wing and Army Wing Units of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, proudly celebrated Indian Air Force Day on October 8, 2025, in the college premises.

The event was presided over by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of the college, while Major Tanuja Singh of the Indian Army graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh (Flight Commander, NCC Air Wing Mandi), and Caretaker Officer Dr. Kavita jointly presented a memento to Major Tanuja Singh in appreciation of her distinguished presence.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar remarked,

“Indian Air Force Day is a celebration of the valor and courage of our Air Warriors. Such events instill the spirit of patriotism among our cadets. The NCC cadets of Vallabh Government College have brought pride and recognition to the institution at both national and international levels.”

During the seminar organized on this occasion, Major Tanuja Singh delivered an insightful talk on “Career Opportunities in Army Medical Services and Military Nursing Services”.
She emphasized that with zeal, passion, determination, and discipline, one can achieve great goals in life.

Major Singh further highlighted that Indian Air Force Day, observed every year on 8th October, commemorates the foundation of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and honors its courage, discipline, and dedicated service to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh stated that Indian Air Force Day is not only a symbol of bravery and heroism but also an inspiration for the youth and NCC cadets to embrace the ideals of patriotism, discipline, and national service.
He added that the day is dedicated to the Air Warriors who safeguard the nation’s skies and provide invaluable service even during emergencies.

Air Force Day is marked by parades, air shows, and demonstrations, showcasing the skills of fighter aircraft, helicopters, and paratroopers. The event aims to ignite patriotic fervor among the youth and motivate them toward a career in the defense services.

NCC cadets actively participate in such celebrations to gain firsthand experience of aeronautical operations, flight training, and the disciplined life of Air Force personnel. These activities promote leadership qualities, teamwork, and a sense of national service among the cadets.

Drill and Competitions

A Drill Competition was organized for the cadets of:

1 HP Air Squadron NCC, Kullu

2 HP NCC Battalion, Mandi

1 HP Girls Battalion, Solan

The overall winner trophy was bagged by the 1 HP Air Squadron NCC, Kullu, for their outstanding performance.
The runner-up trophy went to the HP Girls Battalion, Solan, while the second runner-up position was secured by the 2 HP NCC Battalion, Mandi.

In the Speech Competition held on the same occasion:

Cadet Princi (HP Girls Battalion, Solan) secured the First Position.

Cadet Sanidhya Sharma (1 HP Air Squadron NCC, Kullu) won the Second Position.

Cadet Smriti (2 HP NCC Battalion, Mandi) achieved the Third Position.

In Poster and Slogan Writing Competitions,

Cadet Ayushi stood First,

Cadet Kavita bagged Second, and

Cadet Jyoti Suman secured Third Position.

The Parade Commanders — Cadet Sergeant Nagendra, Senior Under Officer Gunjan Kumari, and Under Officer Om Prakash — were awarded trophies for their excellent drill performance.
Cadet Domesh Kumari was also felicitated for her remarkable performance in the Adventure Camp.

Awards and Recognition

The meritorious cadets were awarded medals and trophies by Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Major Tanuja Singh, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, and Caretaker Officer Dr. Kavita in recognition of their excellence in various competitions.

Cadet Sergeant Rajshree efficiently conducted the stage proceedings, while Caretaker Officer Dr. Kavita delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Over 150 NCC cadets from the Air Wing and Army Wing, along with students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and various other faculties, enthusiastically participated in the celebration.
