Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the campaign against Chitta—a synthetic drug menace—in Himachal Pradesh will be transformed into a mass movement involving active participation from every citizen of the state. Chairing a review meeting in Shimla on Saturday to assess preparations for the upcoming Anti-Chitta Walkathon, the Chief Minister emphasized that the fight against drugs must become a people’s movement to ensure its success.

The Anti-Chitta Walkathon is scheduled to be held in Shimla on November 15, 2025, from the Ridge to Chaura Maidan. Participants can register for the event by scanning a bar code. The Chief Minister informed that various awareness activities will be organized along the route, with enthusiastic participation expected from youth, students, and people from all walks of life.

“The campaign against Chitta will not stop after the walkathon. It will continue for the next three months and mark a decisive battle against the drug menace,” said CM Sukhu. He reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating Chitta completely, asserting that no person involved in its trade would be spared.

The Chief Minister directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of preparations for the event. He also announced that after the state-level walkathon, similar awareness events will be organized across districts and sub-divisions, involving Cabinet members, MLAs, and prominent citizens.

Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari briefed the meeting on security and logistical preparations for the walkathon.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Additional Chief Secretaries K.K. Pant and Shyam Bhagat Negi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, OSD Gopal Sharma, and other senior officers. Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from various districts joined the session virtually.

CM Sukhu called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to come forward and join the campaign wholeheartedly, turning the Anti-Chitta movement into a symbol of collective resolve against drug abuse in the state.
