Rohru Unveils Statue of Former CM Virbhadra Singh; PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh Calls It a Proud and Emotional Moment.
Shimla:
In Rohru, an emotionally significant and historic event took place on Monday, November 17, 2025, as Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh unveiled a statue of his father, the late Virbhadra Singh—six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and widely regarded as the architect of modern Himachal. The ceremony drew a massive gathering of locals, reflecting the deep respect and affection the region continues to hold for the veteran leader.
Addressing the public, Minister Vikramaditya Singh described the moment as one filled with pride and emotion, both as a son and as the representative of a region that his father nurtured with decades of dedicated service. He said seeing his father being immortalized in Rohru, a land the late leader devoted much of his life to, was a matter of immense honour.

Virbhadra Singh is credited with transforming the Rohru Assembly constituency through major strides in road connectivity, education, healthcare, irrigation, water schemes, and modern farming practices. He championed the belief that even the most remote villages of the hill state deserved equitable development and dignity. His tenure witnessed the establishment of numerous schools, colleges, hospitals, and expanded employment opportunities for youth, leaving a lasting imprint on everyday life in the region.

Vikramaditya Singh highlighted his father’s visionary efforts for women’s empowerment, especially through education and self-reliance, and his dedication to uplifting the weaker sections of society. He recalled the late leader’s guiding principle: “The respect of the people is my religion.”
Residents of Rohru turned out in large numbers at the grand ceremony, paying heartfelt tribute to the leader they fondly remember as the “Vikas Purush” (man of development). A community feast (dham) was also organized, drawing enthusiastic participation from people across the area.

The newly unveiled statue, Vikramaditya Singh said, will stand as a beacon of inspiration for future generations—symbolizing Virbhadra Singh’s values of duty, hard work, humility, and public service. “His legacy is eternal, and today the land of Rohru has once again been blessed with his presence,” he added.
