Statue of Former CM Virbhadra Singh Unveiled in Rohru; Vikramaditya Singh and Pratibha Singh Lead Grand Ceremony.

A grand and emotional ceremony was held at the Old Bus Stand in Rohru as the statue of Himachal Pradesh’s modern architect and six-time Chief Minister, the late Raja Virbhadra Singh, was unveiled. The event was presided over by Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh and former MP and Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Pratibha Singh.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that Raja Virbhadra Singh was a towering personality whose relentless efforts scripted the developmental journey of Himachal Pradesh and the Rohru Assembly constituency. He added that despite hardships and adverse circumstances, the former Chief Minister never compromised on the development of the state—something acknowledged even by his political opponents.

He emphasized that it is now the responsibility of the people to walk on the path shown by the late leader and ensure that development continues without interruption.

Documentary and Song Released in Tribute

During the event, a documentary depicting the life and legacy of Raja Virbhadra Singh was screened. A song dedicated to the late leader was also released, following which the minister honored the creators of both the documentary and the musical tribute.

Vikramaditya Singh reiterated that the government is committed to accelerating development in the region. He informed the public that under Phase-IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), 22 roads in the Rohru constituency—worth Rs. 64 crore—have been approved, which will significantly strengthen the area’s road network. Additionally, projects worth Rs. 250–300 crore under the PWD are currently underway.

Pratibha Singh Calls for Commitment to Virbhadra Singh’s Ideals

HPCC President Pratibha Singh, in her address, said that everyone must follow the ideals and developmental vision of Raja Virbhadra Singh to ensure the holistic growth of Himachal Pradesh. She thanked the people for the warm welcome and recalled that the former leader chose to contest from Rohru with the sole intention of bringing comprehensive development to the region—a commitment that saw him elected MLA from the constituency five times. She also highlighted his extensive tours across the constituency, which laid the foundation for numerous developmental milestones.

Rs. 11.19 Crore Sandour Bridge Inaugurated

Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh also inaugurated the newly constructed Sandour Bridge, built at a cost of Rs. 11.19 crore. The bridge will greatly improve connectivity and ease of travel for the residents. Locals expressed gratitude to the minister for this crucial infrastructure.

Warm Welcome by Local MLA

Rohru MLA Mohan Lal Brakta welcomed all dignitaries and said that Raja Virbhadra Singh’s blessings have always been with the people of the region. He added that the major developmental achievements visible in the area today are the result of the late leader’s vision and dedication.

MLA Brakta said, “Today marks a historic moment as the statue of the late Raja Virbhadra Singh has been unveiled by PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and HPCC President Pratibha Singh. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended this ceremony. Raja Saab will forever remain in our hearts.”

Rohru SDM Dharmesh Ramotra, officials from Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, along with representatives from Panchayats, Nagar Panchayat, Nagar Parishad, Zila Parishad, various departments, and other prominent personalities were present in large numbers.
