Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal Leads Move to Cancel Private Fair Amid Traders’ Opposition.
Shimla:
BJP MLA from Sundernagar, Rakesh Jamwal, reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the interests of residents and the local business community during a crucial meeting of the Sundernagar Municipal Council yesterday. Jamwal stated that he has always stood for the rights of the public and traders and will continue to do so in the future.
The special meeting was convened in response to rising resentment among local traders over a proposed privately organised fair at Jawahar Park. The Beopar Mandal of Sundernagar had strongly opposed the event, expressing concerns that the private fair would hurt local businesses and set an unwelcome precedent for similar activities.
After extensive discussions, the Municipal Council unanimously decided to revoke the permission granted for the private fair with immediate effect. The resolution was welcomed by the business community, which had been demanding urgent cancellation to avoid potential financial losses and disruption to regular commercial activity.
Following the meeting, MLA Rakesh Jamwal emphasized that the decision reflects the collective will of the people. He noted that public spaces like Jawahar Park should be used in a manner that benefits the wider community rather than serving private commercial interests that could adversely impact local traders.
The Beopar Mandal expressed gratitude to Jamwal and the Municipal Council for promptly addressing their concerns. With the permission now cancelled, the council is expected to review guidelines for future events to ensure they align with the interests of both the public and local businesses.
