Rally Scheduled for August 27 Over Bus Stop Issues; Panna Lal Trust Opposes Proposed indoor Stadium at Paddal ground in Mandi.
Shimla:
The Panna Lal-Raksha Memorial Trust has joined the opposition against the proposed indoor stadium at Paddal ground in Mandi. Meanwhile, a rally will be held in Mandi city on August 27 to demand the reinstatement of bus stops at Sakohdi and Seri Manch.
Rajesh Kapoor, president of the Panna Lal-Raksha Memorial Trust, stated that the removal of bus stops at Sakohdi and Seri Manch has caused significant inconvenience to residents of Kotli, who now face high transportation costs to reach hospitals. Similarly, local shopkeepers are also suffering due to the lack of bus stops. Kapoor emphasized that the upcoming rally aims to address these issues.
Kapoor also voiced opposition to the proposed indoor stadium at Paddal, citing its use for Shiva Ratri fair and suggesting the stadium be constructed elsewhere. He noted that no budget has yet been allocated for the Paddal stadium, whereas a budget of Rs. 100 crore has been approved for the Jola stadium under the Khelo India program. However, Kapoor highlighted that there are about 29 objections that need to be resolved before the Jola stadium’s construction can proceed. He urged local representatives to take action in this regard and affirmed his commitment to continue fighting for the Jola stadium until it is built.
In response to questions about the Trust’s anti-drug campaign, Kapoor explained that the initiative aims to raise awareness among women, believing that an informed mother is more likely to protect her children from drug abuse. The campaign also includes efforts to educate school children about artificial intelligence (AI), helping them understand its future benefits and risks.
