CM Sukhu Distributes Rs. 14.17 Crore to 3,835 Construction Workers Under Welfare Schemes.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during the Jan Sankalp Sammelan held in Mandi today, disbursed Re. 14.17 crore as financial assistance to beneficiaries of various schemes under the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. A total of 3,835 workers received benefits aimed at improving their social security, education, healthcare, and livelihood support.

Major Allocations Across Multiple Welfare Schemes

CM Single Window and Divyang Housing Scheme

  • Rs. 19 lakh was released to 19 beneficiaries to support housing and accessibility needs of workers and differently abled individuals.

Death and Funeral Assistance

  • Rs. 1.50 crore was provided to 117 families as relief to dependents of workers who passed away, ensuring dignified funeral arrangements and financial support in times of distress.

Education Assistance

  • The largest share of funds—Rs.9.28 crore—was granted to 3,040 beneficiaries to support the education of workers’ children, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting educational advancement among labour families.

Marriage Assistance

  • Rs. 3.01 crore was disbursed to 600 beneficiaries to ease the financial burden of marriage ceremonies in economically weaker households.

Maternity and Paternity Benefits

  • Rs. 1.73 lakh was extended to 10 beneficiaries, supporting worker families during childbirth and early childcare.

Support for Special Children

  • Rs. 1.80 lakh was given to nine mentally challenged special children, aimed at improving their care, well-being and access to essential support facilities.

Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana

  • Rs. 10.42 lakh was provided to 10 beneficiaries to support housing construction and improvement for economically vulnerable workers.

Medical Assistance

  • Additionally, Rs. 3.53 lakh was released to 30 beneficiaries to cover urgent medical expenses and treatment support.

Government’s Commitment to Worker Welfare

CM Sukhu reiterated that the state government remains committed to ensuring welfare, dignity, and financial security for construction workers—one of the most vulnerable segments of the labour force. He emphasized that timely and direct financial assistance helps improve the quality of life of workers and their families while promoting inclusive development across the state.

The large-scale distribution of benefits during the Sammelan reflects the government’s continued focus on social justice, empowerment of labour communities, and strengthening of welfare mechanisms in Himachal Pradesh.
