The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India and Bharat Ratna, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was celebrated with great enthusiasm as Atal Smriti Varsh and Good Governance Day at the district headquarters Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district on Thursday. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from party leaders, workers and the general public, including a large number of women.

The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A special highlight of the event was the recitation of a poem dedicated to former PM, translated into the Bhoti language and presented by Nawang Upasak, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.

Former MLA of Lahaul-Spiti and BJP State Executive Member Ravi Thakur was present as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, the Thakur paid rich tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and highlighted his visionary leadership, commitment to democratic values and lasting contribution to nation-building. He emphasised that Vajpayee’s principles of good governance, inclusiveness and development continue to inspire the country.

Office bearers from various BJP mandals and morchas, senior party workers and a large number of citizens participated in the programme, making it a grand and dignified event. Speakers reiterated Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s enduring legacy and called upon the people to follow his ideals of service, integrity and good governance in public life.
