Shimla:
State BJP Working Committee Member and senior leader Rajat Thakur has strongly welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27 presented by the Central Government, describing it as a “Budget for holistic and inclusive development.”
Praising the financial outlay of Rs. 53,47,315 crore, Thakur said the historic budget, presented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been carefully designed to address the needs of every section of society, including farmers, youth, women, employees, traders, and the middle class.
Focus on ‘Viksit Bharat’
Thakur stated that the budget marks a decisive step toward realizing the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He emphasized that the financial roadmap not only strengthens the national economy but also lays a solid foundation for long-term and sustainable growth.
Referring specifically to Himachal Pradesh, he said the budget would give fresh momentum to the state’s tourism sector. Increased investment in infrastructure development, improved connectivity, and expansion of the railway network are expected to generate new employment opportunities and boost the local economy.
Strengthening Defence and Rural Economy
Highlighting key provisions, Thakur noted a substantial increase in the defence allocation, stating that enhanced funding would further strengthen the country’s security framework and provide momentum to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative.
He also drew attention to the allocation of Rs. 96,000 crore under the Ministry of Rural Development for the “Viksit Bharat Rozgar evam Aajeevika Mission (Gramin).” According to him, this provision would significantly promote rural employment, self-employment opportunities, and sustainable livelihood initiatives across villages.
Vision Beyond Numbers
Describing the budget as more than a compilation of figures, Thakur said it represents a comprehensive blueprint for India’s bright future. He expressed confidence that the measures announced would energize the economy and further strengthen India’s position on the global stage.
On the occasion, BJP Mandal President Lekhraj, General Secretary Surender Thakur, and Yuva Morcha President Nek Ram Thakur were also present. They termed the budget historic and extended their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister for presenting a forward-looking and development-oriented financial plan.
