Grand Alumni Convention Held at Vallabh Government College; Mega Meet Announced for March 2026.

A grand convention of the Alumni Association of Vallabh Government College, Mandi—one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Himachal Pradesh—was successfully organized on the college campus, witnessing enthusiastic participation from former students and faculty members. The distinguished gathering was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

Welcoming the alumni in his capacity as Patron of the Alumni Association, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar underscored the vital role of alumni bodies in the positive, holistic, and sustainable development of educational institutions. He emphasized that an active alumni association strengthens emotional, intellectual, and professional bonds between the institution and its graduates while contributing significantly to the academic and career growth of current students.

President of the Alumni Association, Dr. Hemraj Rana, announced that a grand alumni meet will be organized in March 2026 to bring former students of the college onto a unified and dynamic platform. The proposed event will feature cultural programmes, seminars, and interactive sessions. Distinguished alumni who have excelled at national and international levels in diverse fields will be felicitated during the meet.

Professor and former student Flying Officer Dr. Chaman of the NCC Air Force Wing, Mandi, highlighted the institution’s remarkable legacy since its establishment in 1948. He noted that the college has produced distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in the Armed Forces, healthcare, education, industry, science, film and music, journalism, academia, Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, paramilitary forces, and other professional sectors. He stated that lakhs of students have graduated from the college between 1948 and 2026, and greater alumni engagement would further strengthen the association’s impact.

Dr. Chaman stressed that a well-organized alumni body can provide financial and moral support to meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds. He noted that alumni can play a pivotal role in offering career guidance, mentorship, and practical exposure through seminars, workshops, and guest lectures. Their contributions, including scholarships, awards, library enrichment, laboratory equipment, and modern facilities, can significantly enhance the academic ecosystem. He further emphasized that the Alumni Association acts as a bridge between the institution and society, fostering social responsibility and community development.

Former student and retired Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeevanand Chauhan fondly recalled his student days and acknowledged the guidance of eminent teachers such as Professor Ramesh Dutt in shaping his career. Retired Superintendent Engineer Ravi Singh Rana described the college as the first stepping stone in his professional journey, while retired District Public Relations Officer Kuldeep Guleria credited the institution for nurturing his cultural sensibilities and media skills.

General Secretary of the Alumni Association and Assistant Professor Suraj Mani elaborated on the structure, objectives, and future roadmap of the association. With unanimous approval, Dr. Jeevanand Chauhan was appointed Advisor to the Alumni Association; Engineer Ravi Singh Rana as Technical Advisor; Kuldeep Guleria as Media Advisor; and Dr. Chaman as Media Coordinator.

Vice President Dr. Tara Sen presented the vote of thanks, and Treasurer Professor Ritesh conducted the proceedings. The convention concluded on a high note, marking a renewed commitment toward institutional excellence, alumni engagement, and the continued growth of Vallabh Government College, Mandi.
