SPU Mandi celebrates 4th Foundation Day; achievers honoured.

Sardar Patel University (SPU), Mandi celebrated its fourth Foundation Day with enthusiasm and academic fervour at its auditorium here today.

Padma Shri awardee Hariman Sharma, popularly known as the Apple Man of Himachal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Vice Chancellor Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi was the Guest of Honour. Registrar Sashi Pal Negi (HPAS) and Finance Officer H. S. Saini were also present.
Presenting the annual report (202526), Vice Chancellor Prof. Awasthi highlighted the universitys progress since its establishment in 2022, including expansion of academic programmes, implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, promotion of research and innovation, and key institutional initiatives.

In his address, Hariman Sharma lauded the university for making higher education accessible in the region and appreciated the Vice Chancellors visionary leadership. Sharing his life experiences, he urged students to embrace perseverance, innovation and practical learning.
Students who cleared prestigious examinations such as UGC-NET and JRF were felicitated on the occasion. The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances, including Himachali Nati.

Dr. Pawan Chand delivered the welcome address, while Registrar Sashi Pal Negi proposed the vote of thanks. The event was conducted by Dr. Gaurav Kapoor and attended by deans, heads of departments, faculty members, students and media representatives. A traditional Mandyali Dham was served on the occasion.
