ECI Launches ECINET KYC Module to Empower Voters Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections and Bye-Polls.

In a significant step toward enhancing electoral transparency and voter awareness, the Election Commission of India has urged citizens to make use of its newly integrated “Know Your Candidates (KYC)” module available on the ECINET platform.

The initiative comes as India prepares for the General Elections to Legislative Assemblies in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, along with bye-elections in eight constituencies across multiple states.

Key Election Updates

According to the ECI, a total of 1,955 candidates are contesting in the upcoming elections for Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, as well as bye-polls in select constituencies. Voting for these regions is scheduled for April 9, 2026.

Meanwhile, the nomination process has commenced for Tamil Nadu and the first two phases of West Bengal elections. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is:

April 9, 2026 for Tamil Nadu and West Bengal (Phase I)

April 13, 2026 for West Bengal (Phase II)

ECINET: A Unified Electoral Platform

The ECINET platform, described as the world’s largest electoral service interface, consolidates over 40 applications and portals developed by the Election Commission into a single digital ecosystem.

Through ECINET, voters can:

Register as voters and search electoral rolls

Track application status

Download e-EPIC (digital voter ID)

Connect with election officials or book calls with Booth Level Officers (BLOs)

Access polling trends and lodge grievances

“Know Your Candidates” Module

A standout feature of ECINET is the KYC module, which enables voters to access detailed candidate information, including:

Criminal antecedents

Assets and liabilities

Educational qualifications

Verified social media accounts

Users can also download the complete Form 26 affidavit submitted by candidates, ensuring access to verified and comprehensive disclosures.

Promoting Transparent and Inclusive Elections

The platform also integrates tools such as:

cVIGIL, allowing citizens to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct

Saksham, designed to facilitate accessible electoral participation for persons with disabilities

The ECI emphasized that ECINET aims to provide a single-window, real-time information and grievance redressal system, reinforcing its commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections.

As the election season gathers momentum, voters are encouraged to leverage ECINET’s features to make informed choices and actively participate in the democratic process.
