Shimla:

Amid the ongoing Municipal Corporation elections, 27-year-old Gaurav Sharma has emerged as a promising young candidate from Samkhetar Ward No. 11. Even before formally stepping into electoral politics, Sharma has built a strong grassroots presence through consistent social service, earning recognition among local residents.

Rooted in Service, Driven by Youthful Vision

At a time when many young individuals migrate in search of better opportunities, Gaurav Sharma chose to stay connected to his roots and work for the development of his home region. With a firm belief in public service, he has been actively engaged in initiatives aimed at community welfare and local progress.

During his postgraduate studies at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Sharma remained actively involved in student politics for nearly six years. He served as the President of the Himachal Pradesh Student Union, where he effectively raised student-related issues and advocated for their rights.

Strong Record of Social Work

Sharma’s contributions extend beyond student politics. He has organized multiple blood donation camps, particularly benefiting Himachali patients at PGI Chandigarh and other hospitals. In 2019–20, through his NGO, he launched a clothing donation drive in Mandi. The initiative gained significant traction, eventually prompting the Municipal Corporation to install dedicated clothing collection containers in the area.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharma led awareness campaigns to educate the public and actively participated in relief efforts. He has also been involved in disaster relief work during natural calamities. Additionally, he has consistently supported people from Himachal Pradesh traveling to Chandigarh for medical treatment or education, providing them with necessary assistance.

Public Decision Awaits

With a growing demand for young, service-oriented leadership, Gaurav Sharma’s candidacy is being viewed as a positive development in local politics. As the elections approach, the voters of Samkhetar Ward 11 will ultimately decide whether to place their trust in this emerging face of dedication and grassroots service.
