In a landmark electoral outcome, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a historic victory in , ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress led by . The BJP secured 206 seats in the 293-member Vidhan Sabha, achieving a two-thirds majority with a vote share of over 45.7 percent, signaling a dramatic political transformation in the eastern state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the victory as “historic and unprecedented,” emphasizing that it reflects the strength of democracy and the people’s mandate. He credited voters across states including West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala for participating in large numbers, reinforcing India’s democratic foundation.
