Trump Declares ‘America’s Trade Economy Is Back’ in World Trade Week Message.
Washington, D.C.:
US President Donald Trump marked World Trade Week with a strong message promoting his administration’s “America First” trade agenda, pledging continued efforts to protect American industries, rebuild domestic manufacturing, and secure fair and reciprocal trade deals for the United States.
In his official message, President Trump said America’s economic strength was built on the power of its industries, innovation, and workforce, while criticizing past trade policies that he claimed weakened domestic manufacturing and allowed foreign competitors to take advantage of American markets.
Trump argued that for decades, US leaders pursued trade arrangements that undermined American workers and accelerated the outsourcing of jobs and production overseas.
“For decades, gutless politicians handed away our prosperity in the name of free trade—undercutting our workers, hollowing out our factories, and weakening the industries that made our Nation great,” Trump said in the statement.
‘Days of Economic Surrender Are Over’
The President declared that his administration has reversed what he described as years of “economic surrender” by implementing tougher trade measures aimed at protecting American workers and industries.
Trump highlighted the use of strategic tariffs as a key pillar of his trade policy, saying they helped attract trillions of dollars in manufacturing investment, reduce the US trade deficit, and encourage companies to return production to American soil.
According to Trump, the administration’s economic approach is designed to prevent foreign nations from exploiting American innovation, jobs, and supply chains.
“No longer will American innovation be exploited by foreign nations who undermine our workers, steal our jobs, and weaken our supply chains,” he stated.
New Trade Deals and Manufacturing Push
The President also announced that the United States has secured more than 20 new trade agreements with global partners, which he said are expanding international markets for American goods while strengthening the nation’s role in the global economy.
Trump claimed these agreements would:
Increase demand for American-made products,
Improve supply chains,
Lower prices on essential goods,
Support domestic manufacturing,
Create more high-paying jobs for American workers.
He pointed to signs of economic revival including the reopening of factories, the return of industrial production to US communities, and lower living costs for American families.
“American factories are reopening, American workers are returning to good-paying jobs, industries that were stripped from our communities are coming home, costs of living are dropping, and our Nation’s prosperity is flourishing,” Trump said.
Focus on Economic Independence
Throughout the message, Trump emphasized economic independence and fair competition as central themes of his administration’s trade strategy.
He said the United States is entering a “new era” focused on protecting national economic interests while continuing to lead the world through innovation and industrial strength.
The President concluded by reaffirming his commitment to putting American workers and businesses first, saying the country would continue leading global trade and economic growth for generations to come.
“Together, we are proving to the world that the strength of America’s trade economy is back—and we are once again safeguarding our success, reasserting our economic independence, and putting the interests of the American people first,” Trump said.
World Trade Week is observed annually in the United States to recognize the importance of international trade and its role in supporting economic growth, jobs, and global commerce.
