Trump Blasts Media Coverage on Iran, Claims Critics Would Spin Even Total U.S. Victory as Defeat.
WASHINGTON, D.C.:
US President Donald J. Trump launched a fiery attack on major American media organizations and political opponents in a strongly worded statement posted on his social media platform, accusing them of being biased against the United States and his administration.
In the statement, Trump argued that even in a hypothetical scenario where Iran completely surrendered militarily to the United States, sections of the American media would still portray the situation as a failure for America and a victory for Tehran.
The president specifically targeted publications and networks including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal — which he mockingly referred to as the “China Street Journal” — and CNN. He accused them of deliberately undermining U.S. achievements and promoting what he described as “fake news.”
Trump’s statement read in part that if Iran were to surrender, acknowledge the destruction of its Navy and Air Force, and formally sign “Documents of Surrender,” the media would still claim that Iran had achieved a “Masterful and Brilliant Victory” over the United States.
The remarks reflect Trump’s long-running criticism of mainstream media outlets, which he has frequently accused of political bias and unfair coverage throughout his political career. He also renewed attacks on Democrats — whom he referred to as “Dumacrats” — claiming that both political opponents and media organizations have “totally lost their way” and “gone absolutely CRAZY.”
The statement comes amid continuing political tensions in Washington and ongoing debates over U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, particularly regarding Iran and regional security issues.
Political analysts note that Trump has consistently used aggressive rhetoric against media institutions to energize his political base, portraying himself as fighting against what he describes as an entrenched political and media establishment.
Neither Iranian officials nor the named media organizations immediately responded publicly to Trump’s comments.
