King Approves Major Ministerial Reshuffle as Prime Minister Strengthens Government Team.

A significant ministerial reshuffle has been announced after King Charles III approved a series of appointments across key government departments, reflecting Prime Minister’s efforts to strengthen the administration and enhance the delivery of government priorities.

According to an official announcement, several Members of Parliament and peers have been assigned new responsibilities in departments covering security, defence, business, housing, environment, and parliamentary affairs.

Among the most notable appointments, Dame Angela Eagle DBE MP has been named Minister of State and Security Minister, serving jointly in the Home Office and the Cabinet Office. Her appointment places her at the forefront of the government’s national security and counter-terrorism agenda.

Stephen Morgan MP has been appointed Minister of State in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), where he will help oversee policies related to environmental protection, food security, farming, and rural communities.

In the defence sector, Calvin Bailey MBE MP has been appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence, taking on responsibilities linked to the armed forces and national defence strategy.

The government has also strengthened its parliamentary operations with the appointment of Jade Botterill MP as Junior Lord of the Treasury, a key government whip role, while Emma Foody MP joins the Whips’ Office as an Assistant Whip in the House of Commons.

In the House of Lords, Lord Leong CBE has been appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Business and Trade, while Lord Lemos CMG CBE takes up a ministerial role in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Lord Collins of Highbury has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary and will continue serving as Deputy Leader of the House of Lords. Additionally, Baroness Ramsey and Baroness Curran have both been appointed Baronesses-in-Waiting, serving as Government Whips in the House of Lords.

The Prime Minister has also elevated the Rt Hon Sir Alan Campbell MP, Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons, to full Cabinet membership. His inclusion in the Cabinet is expected to strengthen coordination between government departments and parliamentary business.

The appointments take immediate effect and form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its leadership team and advance key policy objectives across the United Kingdom.
