Sports Foster Discipline and Self-Confidence Among Youth: Chief Minister Sukhu at International Pro Boxing Championship.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that sports play a vital role in fostering discipline, building self-confidence, and encouraging a healthy spirit of competition among youth, while addressing the concluding ceremony of the International Pro Boxing Championship held at the historic Ridge in Shimla on Tuesday evening.
The championship was organized in memory of former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, whom the Chief Minister described as a towering leader of the Congress party with a significant contribution to the development of Himachal Pradesh. Paying tribute to the former leader, Sukhu said that such sporting events serve as a source of inspiration for budding sportspersons to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
He emphasized that international sporting events provide young athletes with valuable exposure and opportunities to observe high-level competition, thereby enhancing their skills, confidence, and overall performance. He added that initiatives like the International Pro Boxing Championship help strengthen the sports ecosystem in the state and encourage youth participation in professional sports.
The event witnessed participation from international boxers representing Sri Lanka, India, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Thailand, making it a platform for cross-cultural sporting exchange and competitive excellence.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting sports infrastructure and creating more opportunities for youth in the state, stating that such international events not only honour sporting talent but also contribute to the overall development of Himachal Pradesh.
