Shimla:
Himachal Pradesh, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and favorable climate, has welcomed a record-breaking one crore tourists in the first six months of 2024. This surge in tourism has been fueled by the state’s picturesque valleys and the proactive efforts of the government to enhance facilities for travelers.
As of June, the state recorded a total of 1,00,87,440 tourists, drawn to popular destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti. Among these, Kullu and Shimla districts emerged as the top attractions, hosting 4,73,737 and 4,48,392 tourists respectively.
The trend has continued into July, supported by favorable weather conditions and well-maintained roads, which have enabled tourists to escape the summer heat of the plains and immerse themselves in Himachal’s scenic beauty.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed confidence in surpassing two crore visitors by the year-end, highlighting the state’s commitment to ensuring safe and enjoyable travel experiences. He assured that despite recent weather challenges affecting some roads, the majority across Himachal Pradesh remain accessible.
“The safety and enjoyment of our tourists are our top priorities,” emphasized Chief Minister Sukhu. He encouraged travelers to stay updated on travel advisories and road conditions through district administration helplines, police departments, and social media channels.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Public Works Department (PWD) in swiftly clearing road blockades, Chief Minister Sukhu underscored the government’s dedication to maintaining travel routes for seamless tourism. The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation has been proactive in providing updates on specific routes to instill confidence among tourists.
Regular updates on road conditions are being disseminated by district administrations and Himachal Police to ensure minimal inconvenience to tourists during their stay in the state.
With such proactive measures and natural beauty on offer, Himachal Pradesh continues to attract tourists from across India and beyond, promising a memorable travel experience amidst its serene landscapes.
